You will find an extensive network of winter hiking trails around the Jägersberg. On sunny heights or in picturesque valleys - we will show you our favourite tours.
Start your winter hike directly at Jägersberg. From here you can head towards Tiefenbach or Fischen, for example. Thanks to our elevated location, the hiking trails are particularly scenic and perfect for a short winter walk.
Some paths in the direction of Tiefenbach are not regularly cleared or gritted. Therefore, please pay attention to the current snow conditions and wear good footwear.
Experience the deepest rocky gorge in Europe in thick ice. The circular tour starts at the car park near Tiefenbach and leads uphill through the gorge. We then recommend that you return via the Zwingsteg footbridge. Here you have a particularly impressive view and also pass the two refreshment stops Alpe Dornach and Sesselalpe. *Families take note: At the Alpe Dornach there is a large playground right next to the terrace as well as its own toboggan slope with toboggan hire.
The Gaisalpe is located at the foot of the Rubihorn, below the two Gaisalp lakes. From the ski jumping arena, the trail climbs steadily along the Wallraffweg to the Gaisalpe. During the hike, you have a fantastic view of Oberstdorf, the entire Illertal valley and the Jägersberg. After a refreshment stop at the Gaisalpe, we recommend the toboggan: the natural toboggan run is simply a must in good snow conditions! Once you arrive in Reichenbach, you can either walk back to Oberstdorf along the meadow path or take the bus.
This view - the frozen Freibergsee lake, the extravagant ski jump and the Allgäu mountains - is the destination of the hike. Many paths lead to the Freibergsee. For example, from the south of Oberstdorf via Waldesruh and Bergkristall, over the Renksteg or from the ski jump car park. However, the circular route from the Söllereck cable car is particularly beautiful and offers great views. The cable car takes you up to 1,400 metres. From there, the trail leads via Hühermoos and Hochleite to Schwand and Freibergsee. You return to the valley station via Bergkristall.
Winter hiking over the Gottesacker: This circular hiking trail runs at an altitude of 2,000 metres, making it the highest winter hiking trail in Kleinwalsertal that can be reached by cable car. The Ifenbahn cable car takes you up to well-prepared paths in the middle of an enchanting, silent world of ice. You then cross the invisible border between Germany and Austria on your 5-kilometre hike. If you would like to enjoy the special atmosphere on the shorter 3 km variant, you can return to the starting point from the halfway point.
