The fascinating landscape of the Allgäu is just waiting to be discovered. Idyllic valleys, astonishing peaks, transparent mountain lakes and emerald-green forests characterise the surrounding scenery.
The Allgäu is a paradise for hikers all year round. The Hörner villages offer two mountain railways, numerous summits and the cross-border Nagelfluhkette Nature Park is a special highlight for nature lovers. In Oberstdorf, a network of over 200 km (124 mi) of hiking and cycling trails at various altitudes and levels of difficulty awaits you from spring to autumn. In winter, too, you will find one of the largest hiking trail networks in the Alps around the Jägersberg, which is hard to beat in terms of beauty and variety! Here, you can still experience real winter romance with anything from glittering landscapes, snow-covered fir trees and thick icicles to sunny skies or snow flurries.
If you like getting around on two wheels, the Allgäu is perfect for you. Whether it's a relaxing ride along a mountain river on a trekking bike, a challenging downhill ride on a mountain bike or the hunt for altitude on an e-bike, countless discoveries of nature and unforgettable holiday memories are at your disposal.
You can store your own bikes safely in our garage. There is also a charging station for e-bikes here. If you would like to rent, you will find several cycling shops with high-quality rental bikes in the direct vicinity.
In the Allgäu Alps, exercise is part of the philosophy of life, which applies to every season! While winters in the city often seem grey and wet, you can expect a brilliant, winter wonderland, numerous hours of sunshine and plenty of leisure activities here. For example, glide through the idyllic Rohrmoostal valley on one of the most snow covered, cross-country trails in the Allgäu. Hike with snowshoes on silent soles through untouched winter landscapes. If you need to step it up a bit, hone in your technique on a private skiing course with our partners from the Oberstdorf skiing technique school and experience the best downhill runs in the Allgäu.
